That Guy From The IT Crowd

The End Of The Riots

On a long drive through a thunderstorm I was listening to the news on the radio about the continuing riots across the UK. As my mind sometimes does it drifted to a scene that never was…

The policeman and the rioter stood meters apart. George, 42, 6 hours into his shift was now regretting that last pint the night beofre and wishing he’d gone to bed just that little bit earlier.
“Come on mate, just put down the brick and go home. You’re not proving anything and if you go now you’re not in trouble either.” Forever the diplomat, with rain running down his riot shield.
“It’s cold, it’s fucking raining and I think we’d both rather be at home.” The riots hadn’t started, no damage had been done this evening, George and his squad had been chasing groups all around the town center all night. The police hoped that the rain would dissuade anyone from coming out. After all, they wouldn’t want to get your new looted Nikes wet would they?
The tall, unmasked young man spat at Georges shield. Instantly this was washed away by the rain neither the spit nor the gesture making much impact.
“Fucking pig!” he bellowed. “You think a bit of fucking rain is gonna stop us? We’re taking back the streets! We’re claiming what’s ours and aint no fucker going to stop us!” He raised his hands in defiance and got a cheer from his supporters.
George was thrown to the ground.
Dazed he looked over to where the young man had once stood, the thunder clap still ringing in his ears.
The looters decided that perhaps a bit of rain was enough to send them home after all.

I’ve just recently got my hands on a new HDR app for my iPod Touch. The image quality isn’t fantastic but I do like the effect of HDR.

Another lucky picture. Unfortunately I didn’t get my full camera out and this was taken just using my phone camera.

Not a portrait for a change. Actually had my camera with me, battery charged and the memory card in the camera, such a combination is rare.

Mist just starting to clear from the lines at Bracknell station.

No tampering with this picture, it pretty much took itself.

Ever have one of those strange moments where you’re certain you look like someone you don’t? Wrong lighting, bad photo manipulation, wrong glasses. Other than that pretty similar to the recent George Michael pictures for his new single True Faith, if you have your back to the screen and your eyes shut.

The singular light source gives strong definition to my brow line and my right lower eye lid casts a shadow over my eye blacking it out. No Photoshop work, just messing with the web cam and an LED torch.

Messing with a torch and web cam. I like making effects with lighting as an alternative to using a paint package. This is an unchanged shot straight from the built in web cam using just a small LED torch as the only light source.

For a change a picture that isn’t me. I want to take more pictures of friends and family but rarely get the chance. This is a friend of my daughter. She’s always posting mobile phone, blurry pictures of herself, typically with a very stern face suggesting worries beyond her age.

As she was sorting out her hair and deciding how to pose I was talking to her, joking with her and all the while taking pictures. This is my favourite. She’s put this one up on her Facebook and I’m glad to see everyone commenting on how beautiful she is with a smile.

Weather today has been beautiful.

Normally when something is worth photographing I don’t have my camera. When I have my camera there’s nothing worth photographing. Today, something worth photographing, camera with me but, frozen food in my shopping bag so I don’t have time to take many pictures.

I got this guy’s email address and may sort out a proper photo session at some point.

Any excuse to put on a shirt and tie. Went to a “getting back to work” meeting at the Job Centre. I was expecting a group thing but ended up just a one to one with one of the advisors. She told me to keep doing what I’m doing… So here I am again, posting to Tumblr and reading job postings on the Internet.

Clone alone? More Gimp trickery. Though the two pictures where taken in the same couple of minutes the lighting changed considerably. I thought that the defused lighting from the clouds would have made it easier but I think I chose precisely the wrong time to take these pictures, just as the sun was setting.

I’ve moved. Not far I’ve just moved from the kitchen table to the cupboard under the stairs. Not much room but it means the living room and kitchen are now computer free and easier to make presentable when showing the house.

hessi: Using iTunes, Part 1: Introduction to stars

hessi:

I consider myself an avid iTunes user. In fact, I would call myself an iTunes fan, although I know, accept and often join the typical rants about iTunes. Yes, it is bloated beyond belief and so far, Apple doesn’t seem to care about treating us with something more modern - 64 bit? Maybe at least…

^ I noticed you want to be in showbiz and I'm starting a new blog to help people with breaking into the industry! :D

Interesting, though this is indeed something that’s gone through my mind I wasn’t aware that I’d posted about it?

I’m in the UK for the moment but thanks for your link, it may be helpful to others that find my page. I’ll keep a hold of it should I find myself out on the west Coast.

Almost looks like I was caught unaware! I did try to get this effect with a previous photo, the background blurred and my face in reasonable focus.

Taken on the phone camera again.
